Silver Angel Gifts, and everything we could possibly dream of.

“Our primary purpose is to dump the shame, regain our sense of worthiness, and begin, not only to feel, but to deeply know we deserve and are worthy of everything we could possibly dream of.

Painting by Charles Mahoney 1903-1968

As a young child brought up a Catholic in the 50`s, it was inevitable one grew up carrying some degree of shame.
My teachers the nuns, warned me that my soul was stained with sin before I was born..some story about Eve, a snake and an apple they said.
I was 4 years old, and remember feeling pretty pissed off with Eve for messing up my little pearly white soul, but what could I do?
Furthermore I was told, God created Eve not for her own essential value, but to keep Adam happy, like his sidekick so to speak, in the Garden of Eden.

The nuns told us that not only was Eve subservient to Adam, but clearly not his intellectual equal either. As a result of her female weakness`s, and tempted by delusions of grandeur, she coerced Adam into eating the “forbidden fruit”.
Consequently, Eve (and all womankind after her), took the rap for getting everybody kicked right out of Paradise, and for all the suffering and hunger in the world, as we know it today. All those poor starving babies I thought, it was all my fault. It also put me off apples for a while too.

Hence, these nebulous seeds of gender inequality and gender shame were making strong roots in the fertile soil of my wildly imaginative 4 year old mind, while the tender rose buds of self confidence and femininity began wilting, in this hot house of shame.
Guilty by association they said, case closed.

“Our primary purpose is to dump the shame, regain our sense of worthiness, and begin, not only to feel, but to deeply know we deserve and are worthy of everything we could possibly dream of.”
