The First Angels And Guardian Angels in History.

If you love your Angels and Guardian Angels there will come a time when you want to learn about when and where Angels and Guardian Angels first appear in actual form to human beings. We know they are referred to in the Old Testament many times but there are accounts of Angels appearing and guiding human beings thousands of years before the Bible was even written.

Once upon a time, rather a long time ago, around 4000 BC and up to the 1st millennium, (1000 BC) there were movements of people who made their way out of Europe, travelling together through Persia, and across thousands of miles of Asian landscape to eventually arrive in India. This movement of people, to and from India is referred to as the Indo-European Migration.

Some people loved to travel even back then, for a number of different reasons. They were possibly tracking food supplies, escaping war or famine, or visiting holy places of pilgrimage. Maybe they travelled purely for adventure, but along with them they would carry goods, new ideas and stories, backwards and forwards on their journey to and from far away places.

Though today, this period is still clouded in some degree of mystery, we cannot fail to observe the rich tapestries they wove together of science and culture, and wonder at the many striking similarities our cultures still retain from places as far apart as Northern Europe and Northern India. Commonalities can be clearly found in the art, the language, the music and myth of these peoples who lived thousands of miles apart, at a time in history when the only manner of travel was either on foot or from help from our 4 legged friends.

Even more interesting to those of us who are excited by the notion of Angels, is the very widespread presence during this period, of a person called Mithras.

Mithras was a light-bringer – a winged messenger god, whose name pops up all over the place from Great Britain to India during the millennium immediately before, and during the time of Christ. Within the historical data of this time accounts of a real life member by the name of Zoraster, who claimed to have been guided by Angelic visitations, spread the first monotheistic religious message that not only changed the religion of Persia but subsequently influenced both Muslim and Judaic thought and finally Christianity.

This spiritual movement called Zoroastrianism goes on to identify a vast hierarchy of Angels, who were manifestations of the One Lord of Light, each one being associated with specific attributes and qualities, and it is here, in the last millennium BC, bound up in the cosmology of ancient Persia, that we actually begin to find Angels as we know them today.

The First Accounts of Guardian Angels

It is in Zoroastrianism that we are first introduced to the concept of a Guardian Angel, one who would be a constant source of support as a personal guide, protector and loving friend throughout the life of one single human being.

Our Guardian Angels have been with mankind for many thousands of years. To this day we continue to hold this same spiritual belief in a Guardian Angel, both in the Christian doctrine, in Judaism and in the Islamic doctrines. The Bible alone refers to Angels over 100 times but there is a lot more about Angels that we can research if we are interested to learn their very long history serving mankind.
