John Lennon was the first person from whom I heard the phrase
“If you want to change the world, better change yourselves”.
He was studying at the time, with the Marharishi Mahesh in Rishikesh India. That was February 1968, 44 years ago. I was 12, and this was the Revolution. I was impressed.
Since then it has become a fridge magnet phrase, found in pop psychology and common to a host of new age teachings, such as those of Eckhart Tolle (The Power of Now), Louise Hay (You can Heal your Life), and developed by other inspirational writers, such as Wayne Dwyer, Gregg Bradon, Clarissa Pinkola Estes etc, into a personal philosophy for a new world view.. We have all read “The Secret” by now, we have been doing the personal, inner work for 30 years or more.. we have been shown the road to freedom and peace, ..how to live the life we want, how to attract our Soulmate, and manifest Abundance,…all we need now is to DO it, and LIVE it, every moment of every day, so that these teachings become completely and totally integrated into our DNA, our thinking, and our reality.
